On February 17, 2009 Mayor Chris Doherty promoted seven Scranton Police officers.

Officer Patrick Gerrity
was promoted to the rank of Training Sergeant. Sergeant Gerrity has served with the Department  for six years. Prior assignments include the Special Investigation Division as well as Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement Unit. He also received the award for Drug Investigator of the Year in 2008.

Officer Mike Perry was promoted to the rank of Patrol Sergeant. Sergeant Perry has served with the Department for nine years. Prior assignments include the Special Investigation Division. He also received the award for Drug Investigator of the Year in 2008.

Officer Tim Charles was promoted to the rank of Patrol Sergeant. Sergeant Charles has been with the Department for six years. Prior assignments include Pro-Active Enforcement Unit. He also received
the award for Officer of the Year in 2008.


Sergeant Dennis Lukasewicz was promoted to the rank of Crime Scene Investigator, from the rank of Patrol Sergeant. Investigator Lukasewicz has served with the Department for 18 years. He is also
a member of the Special Operations Group.


Officer Robert McCool
was promoted to the rank of Patrol Corporal. Corporal McCool has served with the Department for six years.

Officer Joe Harris was promoted to the rank of Patrol Corporal. Corporal Harris has served with the Department for six years.
He is also a member of the Special Operations Group.


Officer Richard Ianuzzo was promoted to the rank of Patrol Corporal. Corporal Ianuzzo has served with the Department for 5 years.

Officer Tom McDonald was promoted to the rank of Patrol Corporal. Corporal McDonald as served with the Department for six years. Prior assignments include the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement Unit, as well as, the Special Investigations Division, he is also a member of the Special Operations Group.

On March 7, 2009 Officer Vince Uher appeared on
America’s Most Wanted.

It wasregarding case involving two wanted persons, Darak Williams and Kashema Reddish, who were charged for the murder of Ms. Reddish’s  3 year old daughter. After this broadcast of America’s Most Wanted, a yearlong manhunt came to an end when a tip was received by Police which lead to the arrest of Williams and Reddish by the Buffalo Police Department. Williams and Reddish arrived in Scranton and were arraigned on March 11, 2009; Williams was charged with 1st and 3rd degree murder and Reddish was charged with 3rd degree murder.
